A contemporary kitchen and wine store in West Kingsdown
It was a pleasure to work at Alice and Luke’s West Kingsdown home to complete the extensive re-design and modernisation of their home with a handmade, bespoke kitchen.
Alice and Luke both come from big families and love to entertain. The open-plan, bright and spacious home that they’ve created provides the perfect space for family gatherings and relaxed suppers.
Having completed the kitchen installation, we were thrilled to be invited back to design and install a bespoke wine store to match.
The result is a stunning, contemporary combined space that’s perfect for their lifestyle.
Natural tones
Alice and Luke chose earthy, natural tones for their cabinetry and countertops, creating an elegant design that doesn’t overpower the space.
The handmade cabinetry is built using handle-less, super matt graphite acrylic, with Egger ‘Volcano’ feature panels.
The side grain, solid oak breakfast bar gives a warm and inviting aspect to the kitchen – perfect for casual dining, or as a serving station for larger gatherings.
Organic white
Caesarstone ‘organic white’ quartz was Alice and Luke’s choice for the countertop.
The clean white surface subtly incorporates natural undertones for a crisp, yet warm effect. The waterfall edge profile gives a lovely shaped finish to the countertops, showcasing the beauty of the quartz.
The picture window surround is completely clad in the same quartz, bringing continuity not only within the kitchen, but to the window style through the house.
We created a custom made bar unit for Alice and Luke, which is ideal for storing glassware and looks very attractive in the evenings with its subtle internal lighting.
Hidden pantry
The sleek floor to ceiling bank of cabinetry hides a corner pantry, which gives ample storage and, above all, is an absolute pleasure to use.
Perfect for storing all the herbs of spices that demonstrate Alice and Luke’s love of cooking!
Innovative appliances
When it comes to cooking, Alice and Luke have incorporated everything they’ll ever need for creating homecooked meals and party menus.
The BORA X Pure hob with cooktop extractor sits sleekly into the central island to ensure odour and steam-free cooking and entertaining.
The stylish Miele appliances that grace the bank of cabinetry include two single ovens, a built-in microwave oven and the innovative Miele steam oven – perfect for enhancing natural flavours.
The Quooker Flex tap completes the functionality of this beautiful, yet practical kitchen.
Matching wine store
The bespoke wine storage has been designed and custom-made to meet Alice and Luke’s requirements. With warm oak shelving to showcase the bottles, and in-built technology to ensure that their wine is kept at the perfect temperature and condition.
Floor-level cabinetry was designed and handmade to unite the twin wine stores and give additional storage space.
“We couldn’t be happier”
Our thanks to Alice for her kind review of our work on this fabulous project:
From the moment we walked into the showroom, the service we received from Great British Kitchens & Interiors has been exceptional.
Alice
Jack’s knowledge was invaluable. We never felt rushed to make a decision, which allowed us to come up with a design we were 100% happy with.
When it came to fitting our kitchen, we were so impressed by Jeremy’s attention to detail. We couldn’t be happier with the finish.
We were so pleased with the kitchen, we decided to add further units to our dining room. Jack designed two beautiful glass cabinets to match the kitchen and made the whole space feel complete.
It’s rare you engage with a company with this level of customer service, professionalism and level of quality.
