Bedroom refurbishment in Sevenoaks

When Rob and Laura decided to renovate the bedrooms in their central Sevenoaks home, ensuring they had ample storage for themselves and their children was an essential part of their plans.

Working with us to create fitted storage meant that they could maximise the space with high quality, attractively finished cabinetry.

Master bedroom

Rob and Laura have an extensive dressing room between their master bedroom and en suite bathroom. They were keen to make the most of every inch of space.

We constructed floor to ceiling storage the full length of the dressing room. Sturdy MFC (melamine faced chipboard) in a Winchester Oak finish was used for the carcasses.

The storage was designed symmetrically, to keep the look simple and neat. This also helps to draw the eye through the room to a view of their beautiful roll top bath in the en suite.

On either side we included a large wardrobe, shelving and drawers, adding a divided drawer on each side to store smaller items.

We designed the HDF (high density fibreboard) fronts in a shaker style to give a touch of tradition to the look. We painted them in Farrow & Ball “Dimpse” paint.

The symmetry of the design also enables Rob and Laura to have “one side each”. And, just in case they forgot whose is whose, we subtly carved their names into the sides of the drawers! We pride ourselves that it’s these tiny touches which turn the functional into the wonderful.

Guest bedrooms

The storage requirements were less extensive in the guest bedrooms. However, Rob and Laura were still keen to create well-built, attractive cupboards and shelving to meet their needs and those of their guests.

In the guest rooms we again used a combination of MFC and HDF. Shaker style doors and traditional handles match the master bedroom, giving a feeling of continuity as you moved through the house.

The furniture was painted in Farrow & Ball “Pavilion Gray”, better suiting the preferred colour scheme for these rooms.
